This tour will visit several historic park field houses with Progressive Era murals which were created to inspire and educate the immigrant residents who lived in the surrounding neighborhoods during the early 20th century. Stops include Hamilton and Sherman Parks featuring two of America’s earliest field houses, both of which were designed by D.H. Burnham & Company. The work of nationally acclaimed muralist John Warner Norton will be explored, as will a series of murals produced by his students from the School of the Art Institute. Tom Lea’s Pioneers mural in Gage Park will also be featured. Lunch in included. Registration is required.
Pick-up and drop-off on Upper E Randolph Street at S Columbus Drive (north side of Millennium Park).
