This bus tour celebrates important milestones in the history of the city, state, and American history. The tour will visit Jackson Park where the World’s Columbian Exposition opened 125 years ago. In addition to a visit to the park’s iconic Statue of the Republic, the tour includes Yoko Ono’s SkyLanding, a lotus-like symbol of peace that marks the site of the fair’s Japanese Pavilion.
Other milestones of 1918 will be Leonard Crunelle’s Victory Monument dedicated to a WWI African-American Illinois National Guard unit that helped drive German forces out of France; and Logan Square’s Illinois Centennial Monument by Henry Bacon and Evelyn Beatrice Longman. Lunch is included. Registration is required.
Pick-up and drop-off on Upper E Randolph Street at S Columbus Drive (north side of Millennium Park).
