Her Story: Women’s Contributions to Chicago History

  • Sulzer Library 4455 North Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL, 60625 United States (map)

Since the early history of Chicago, women have made important contributions to the city and the state, but they have long been overlooked. This presentation will illuminate the stories of many significant women who overcame great obstacles to achieve success, leaving important legacies to Chicago and the nation. Presented by historian and author Julia Bachrach, the program will also cover a Chicago Park District initiative she headed to name local parks for noteworthy women. It will include other recent commemorative efforts such as monuments, markers, and a new exhibit that Ms. Bachrach curated in Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens.
