Since the late 19th Century, Chicago’s parks have included some of the nation’s most important works of outdoor public art. These include early figurative monuments to heroes such as the General John Logan memorial in Grant Park and allegorical sculptures such as the Statue of the Republic in Jackson Park. Julia Bachrach will lead this tour, sponsored by the Oak Brook Park District, featuring an array of public monuments created by renowned artists over more than a century. Highlights include Lorado Taft’s famous Fountain of Time in Washington Park; Helping Hands, a memorial to Jane Addams by Louise Bourgeois in Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens; and Yoko Ono’s new installation entitled Skylanding in Jackson Park.
Private event sponsored by Oak Brook Park District.
